The first step to design a scrapbooking room layout is finding out what you can use for storage. Whether it’s a closet, file cabinet, or scrapbook desk you should have places to store all the odds and ends that tend to pile up. After all, who has the time and energy to search out all your materials every time you get inspired? Plus when you have to rifle through your stuff, it’s not only messy but also damaging to it. A great piece of scrapbooking furniture to have is stackable plastic carts with drawers that you can find at any local discount store. Also many file carts, cabinets, and pouches are designed to vertically store all those pretty pages of designer paper you have lying around. Companies such as Making Memories and many others offer special scrapbooking furniture like modular storage systems that consist of wall-hung panels made of various materials where you can keep little doodads like pushpins, inks, and paints. As for a surface to work on, you can use a table, countertop, scrapbook desk or even a butcher block. For those of you lucky enough to have scrapbooking rooms, a desk is a large workspace that will also usually give you great storage options. A computer desk is a popular choice as it is one that comes with extra storage space and is designed to fit a comfortable chair. There are also certain kinds of scrapbook furniture that will fit in areas with little room and still keep your stuff in an organized and functional manner.
